apple watch is losing an essential app and we don't know why |
For Meta platforms on smartwatches, everything has changed. We recently heard that Wear OS 4 will support WhatsApp. But Meta not only gives, but also takes. On Apple Watch, Facebook Messenger is set to lose some of its utility.
A crucial app is disappearing from Apple Watch, and we have no idea why.
Users of Messenger won't be able to send messages from their wrists any longer, the company has revealed. Users on social media received messages from their Apple Watch telling them that the Apple Watch app would be fully removed starting on May 31.
“After May 31, Messenger won’t be available as an Apple Watch app, but you can still get Messenger notifications on your watch,” receives the notification informing them that Messenger on Apple Watch has changed.
In a clarification provided to Reviewgeek (via MacRumors), a corporate representative claims:
“People can still receive Messenger notifications on their Apple Watch when paired, but starting at the end of May they will no longer be able to respond from their watch. But they can continue using Messenger on their iPhone, desktop and the web.”
Early in 2015, at the same time as the first smartwatches themselves, the Apple Watch app was released. Users who preferred not to pick up their phones found the app to be quite useful. It provided the ability to record and send audio messages from the wrist and quickly acknowledge received messages with a thumbs up.
The Instagram app was previously terminated by Meta as well, thus there may be a cutting back of the applications' features so that users can still access them.
It goes without saying that not everyone approves of the choice. Do you plan to miss Facebook Messenger on Apple Watch? Tweet your feedback to @trustedreviews.
